This is a review of the upcoming new version of 68 Classifieds Software Script Version 4.1. Scheduled to be released on: Monday, February 16, 2009. The last major release, Version 4.0 was on February 19, 2008. It looks like we’re on a yearly schedule.

Pros: Many options built in for the display of the video. Straight forward Administration for your settings. Adds a very good value to your sellers
Cons: Tied to an extra field, therefore tied to a category. Extra field text shows in listing which is meaningless to the site viewer. Documentation is sparse

How I Reduced Most of My Abandoned Listings

After going live with my Community 68 Classifieds site, I noticed that for some reason I was getting a number of abandoned listings. An abandoned listing is when someone clicks on the “Place and ad” link and starts the process to post a classified ad, but never finishes the process. You end up with a listing that is set to inactive.

Add an RSS Feed to the Seller Store

Many of you are using the seller store module that 68 Classifieds offers for free. Although this isn’t really a “Store”, it is simply a place where the seller can show a store name, description and an image. This is only shown when you click on the link when viewing an ad listing that says, more ads from this seller and the seller has of course provided these items.
